Britton McGrath Associates: Looking for opportunity to launch new offering despite COVID

  • Appointment heralds move into consumer experience space
  • Looking to make investment of significant value in sector
  • Firm has experience launching and planning commercial visitor attractions

Having committed £1.5m already since the start of the year, with a further £0.5m committed for September, and more to come later this year, SAMAHOMA MEDIA ADVISORS is now looking to make a significant investment in the public entertainment sector, on behalf of  INSIGHT MEDIA FUND. It has appointed Britton McGrath to help with its search and long-term business and operational planning to find a post-COVID friendly offering with a target audience that is robust and still has disposable income.

Britton McGrath Associates has a track record of success in operating and consulting on some of the UK’s biggest visitor attractions.  Jill Britton and Nancy McGrath worked client-side at some of the UK’s most successful attractions including Alton Towers, Madame Tussauds and the London Eye.  Since founding Britton McGrath Associates in 2001 they have helped to launch familiar names such as the View from the Shard and Mail Rail and have worked across the industry with clients including English Heritage, Westminster Abbey and Windsor Great Park.

Spending in the sector was £10.5 billion[1] in the UK in 2018.  Whilst investment in the public sector has tended to focus on the heritage and family offer, there is enormous scope within the commercial sector to develop innovative and targeted experiences.  The Fund hopes to help unlock opportunities in this sector.

Britton McGrath Associates specialises in visitor attractions and visitor destinations; working with clients to ensure that the visitor experience is optimised both in terms of delivery and operational set-up.  This helps clients to stay commercially viable in a changing market and ensuring they have the finances to invest back into the business for long-term growth.

Commenting on the appointment, Britton McGrath Founder, Jill Britton, says: “We’re looking forward to working with SAMAHOMA MEDIA ADVISORS to help find a ground-breaking new concept. Launching a new concept during COVID means we have the flexibility to put health &safety, hygiene and social distancing at the heart of our operational and spatial planning and get it right from the start.”

Bob Clarke, CEO, SAMAHOMA MEDIA ADVISORSadds: “Britton McGrath Associates’ reputation for launching and operating some of the best known and loved visitor attractions in the UK, makes them the best people to assist us with our plans to launch a public entertainment offering, even in the midst of a global pandemic.

“The virus has condensed 10 years of entertainment sector consumption behaviours and evolution into 10 weeks. In doing so it has created a level playing field for smart people with new ideas and lean ways of working to compete with established industry heavyweights across the sector. All they lack is the money to allow their ideas to cut through. We hope to help them bring their ideas to life.”

SAMAHOMA MEDIA ADVISORS is using its media and entertainment industry sector knowledge to optimise opportunities to invest in media projects on behalf of a new fund, INSIGHT MEDIA FUND.
